New Madrid premiere brand new song, anticipating to debut Europe tour
10-12-2015In anticipation to their debut European tour in January 2016 the Athens, Georgia quartet New Madrid have premiered a brand new song "Dont' Hold Me Now" through Stereogum. The band have an album called "magnetkingmagnetqueen" on the way and this premiered lead single suggests it will be a good one.
Propelled by skittering drums and lockstep bass and topped off by Phil McGill’s mangy singsong, it sounds like an old Gang Of Four song reimagined in the translucent style of Modest Mouse’s The Moon And Antarctica. Per McGill, “Don’t Hold Me Now” is about “that sensation when someone or something pulls you from a dream at what can feel like the worst or the best time. Your last moment of the dream before being woken up. Don’t hold me now, I’m dreaming.” Listen through Stereogum.
