Down By The River feat. David Eugene Edwards, Hackensaw Boys, Lauren Ruth Ward and more coming up

02-04-2024

On Sunday 14th of April Down By The River will take place in Poppodium Grenswerk and the Joriskerk in Venlo. The line-up contains: Dave Eugene Edwards, Hackensaw Boys, Lauren Ruth Ward, The Brothers Moving, Woody & Paul, Jana Mila and Néomí.

David Eugene Edwards
Through his work with 16 Horsepower, Wovenhand, and as a solo artist, David has become known as a powerful storyteller. For this performance he will be performing songs from throughout his lifelong catalogue of work. With themes of faith, love, and struggle, his musical wares are redolent of traditional storytelling, and steeped in the lessons of his own personal journeys. Comfortably utilizing a myriad of instruments to pull together a signature sound that straddles country, Americana, blues rock, folk and more, David Eugene Edwards has become a recognizable force in representing deeply spiritual music in an atypical form. Through uncertain times the music of David Eugene Edwards has been a comfort, a steadying hand and now – once again – we will be able to immerse ourselves in a live iteration of his wonderful narratives.

Hackensaw Boys
The boys are back in town! In 2015 we already had the pleasure of welcoming Hackensaw Boys for the very first edition of Down By The River and now they are finally returning. Hackensaw Boys are a versatile roots music band that has been active for over two decades and is known for their energetic live performances and ability to explore different genres within American roots music. The band is known for their unique instruments, such as the Charismo, which give their sound a unique quality. Hackensaw Boys are committed to preserving the roots of American roots music while always evolving themselves.

Lauren Ruth Ward
Lauren Ruth Ward's music has spread like wildfire through LA in recent years after leaving her hometown of Baltimore. Her lyrics are based on her own life and manage to radiate both vulnerability and strength. The music fluctuates between indie, pop, Americana and singer-songwriter. Lauren Ruth Ward is single-handedly revitalizing the image of powerful women in rock’n’roll!

The Brothers Moving, Néomí, Jana Mila and Woody & Paul complement the line-up. With their refreshing sound and own twist on folk, pop, sing-songwriter and garagefolk they each follow their musical ideals in a unique way. A mixture of authentic and genuine stories backed with guitars, warm sounds and a modern view on how Americana and roots should sound like.
