Cordovas
A band with one foot in the present and another in the past, Cordovas embrace the sound of classic Americana and country-rock, with The Band, The Grateful Dead, and The Allman Brothers Band as key influences and plenty of close harmonies and dueling guitar work. Cordovas are the brainchild of songwriter and musician Joe Firstman. Their latest full-length, Destiny Hotel is a work of wild poetry and wide-eyed abandon, set to a glorious collision of folk and country and groove-heavy rock-and-roll. In a major creative milestone for the Tennessee-based band. Cordovas’ new record, produced by Cory Hanson (Wand), will be released in summer 2023 on ATO Records.

Boogie Beasts
Dirty beats, hypnotising slide, screaming harmonica riffs and plenty of fuzz: all of these will be served by this four-men band from Liège-Limburg-Namur, Belgium. Boogie Beasts translate their passion for (hill country) blues into a most characteristic sound of their own, which has a touch of The Black Keys jamming with John Lee Hooker at a rave in the wee hours of the morning, or Morphine on a psychedelic trip with Little Walter, or even RL Burnside backed up by the young Rolling Stones at a juke joint-gig. The drive is infectious, the noise is pure filth, yet highly irresistible… Are you ready to boogie with the Beasts?

Dieter van der Westen
The melodies on Honesty of the Hopeful are catchy, supporting the song themes, sometimes energetic, sometimes sad and compelling. Grooving American uptempo folk rhythms are alternated with slow Tom Waits-like ballads and soulful folk songs. All made with authenticity, honesty and the hope of the musicians that things will be better in the end. Brothers Dieter and Eric van der Westen will come to Venlo to present a mix of intimate rootsfolk to groovie Americana.
