Earlier this month The Feeling of Love released “Reward Your Grace”; their fourth album after “Dissolve Me” and a bunch of 7″s and EPs. The band, mostly based in Metz, comes from the mind of Guillaume Marietta, who was joined by Seb Normal and Sebastien Joly.
“Desolve Me” is the band’s kraut space garage manifesto. Songs stretch out, the drums go more tribal, the synth hammers out this keys on an infinite highways and the guitar gets lost in delay pedal’s fog. Think of Syd Barett, the Velvet Underground or Spaceman 3. With Reward your grace the band explored shoegaze and other pop territories.
This weekend the band will play Here’s Your Future Festival in 013, Tilburg (28-04) then the Queensnite Bash in dBs, Utrecht (29-04) and the Queensday Festival in Venlo (30-04).
Here’s a nice introduction video to the band:
The Urban Voodoo Machine have something to celebrate. The band has their 10-year anniversary and to celebrate they will release “Rare Gumbo”. This is a compilation with 20 rare cuts and will be released on May 20th. Also there will be a special party at Leicester Square Theatre in London. Besides all that the band will return to the Benelux as well to play several festivals and clubshows. Their tour starts this Friday in Het Paard, Den Haag (26/04) and will lead them to Oranjepop in Ommen (27/04), Kulturrampe in Krefeld (28/04), the Queensnite Bash in Utrecht (29/04), Queensday Festival in Venlo (30/04), des Koningstrio in the beautiful garden of the Burgerweeshuis, Deventer (30/04), and will end on May 1st in Lessines at Roots & Roses Festival (01/05).
“Unashamedly theatrical and sheer good fun, The UVM throw themselves around the stage with wild abandon. Lead singer and mainman Paul -Ronney Angel careers amongst the other musicians howling his blues-infused juke joint vocals as a fusillade of mayhem unfolds around him. This is a band that has a virtually indescribable sound. Think spaghetti western meets The Clash at the wildest funeral you’ve ever been at and you’re still not that close.”
A lot is happening with Larry And His Flask: they just signed with Xtra Mile Recordings, are touring with Frank Turner on his sold out shows in the UK and Europe starting today, doing a huge amount of headline European shows and release new EP “Hobo’s Lament“. Plus the new full lenght is in the making, to be released in June. See all tourdates at the bottom of this message.
Larry And His Flask are a high energy, five piece band that have incorportated many facets of Folk, Punk, Gypsy Jazz, Bluegrass, Soul and Brass band Music to create their very own unique brand of rock and roll. Some people call it folk-punk, some people call it down right wilde. But no matter what you call it, their live show is one to be seen and heard.
Their love of old school country, folk, hip hop, gypsy jazz, and everything in between comes shining through in their full length album “All that we know”. Xtra Mile Recordings will digitally release the EP “Hobo’s Lament” on April 22nd followed by a limited numbered CD on May 6th. Their new album “By The Lamplight” is slated to hit the streets in June of this year.
Their second tour throughout Europe starts today and stretches over two months (!) and takes them to a lot of place in Europe. Besides the sold out shows supporting Frank Turner even more headline shows are on the list, some of which are selling out as we speak.
From street corners to barns, from squats to coffee shops, from dive bars to international music festivals, Larry And His Flask continue to bring their own brand of rock and roll to the people. In 2011 they were listed as one of the most important shows of the year in the New York Times. They strive to make sure that no one misses out on the fun. So, if they happen to be in are area do yourself a favor and check them out!
