Johnny Dowd is in Europe at the moment to promote is record “No Regrets”. A record that is themed around the women in his life. Thirteen songs about fifteen women.

Delaney Davidson visits the Benelux

Part man part wheel, Delaney Davidson is part wandering minstrel, part travelling salesman. One hand holds a small brown suitcase, his trade, his ghost orchestra, the other holds his guitar. One foot firmly in the Blues Trash corner of the ring, the other on the road, you could say Delaney sees music as he sees geography, and that although he has certain preferences, in fact all territories are up for grabs This week he’ll be in Belgium and The Netherlands again.

Mindblowing on stage as a one man band and breathtaking in the studio with guest musicians, this New Zealander plays a folk blues cabaret country trash like no-one else. His latest record “Bad Luck Man” is out on Voodoo Rhythm Records.

Liberation!

The 5th of May means it’s Liberation Day in The Netherlands. This year we’ve got plenty of shows going on this day:

Maison du Malheur plays two festivals. First one at “Bevrijdingsfestival Zwolle”; then on “Amsterdam Bevrijdingsfestival. Also The Legendary Shack Shakers are back in Holland for two sets. Firstly in Almere on “Bevrijdingsfestival Flevoland”; then in Wageningen for “Bevrijdingsfestival Overijssel” on Kabaal Am Gamaal. Cobra Skulls will do two shows too: one on the Wageningen festival Legendary Shack Shakers are doing too, then in Utrecht for in dBs,

We finally want to mention that JD McPherson will be performing too but not on a Liberation festival. They’ll be playing the almightly “Moulin Blues” festival in Ospel.

JD McPherson is back in the Benelux with some dates and a re-release of his record “Signs & Signifiers” on Rounder/Universal Records. We’ve never heard a rockabilly record with so much soul! This is so overwhelming stuff you just háve to dance! JD’s voice sounds has the quality of James Hunter and can groove like James Brown. This is traditional rock ‘n roll and R&B music; in a modern jacket. Check out the amazing video for “North Side Gal”:

Last week he blew our mind in Eindhoven and we’re proud to take care of his Belgian bookings. Today he’ll be playing Roots ‘n Roses Festival in Lessines and tomorrow he’s attending Trix in Antwerp.

Cobra Skulls are back in the Benelux! With their record “Agitations” on Fat Wreck Chords in their pocket they will tour Europe. They’re doing two festivals and two club shows. The kick off for the Netherlands will be the Queensday Festival in Venlo, after that they’ll do Kabaal am Gemaal Festival in Wageningen. When that’s done they can be seen at dB’s, Utrecht and Winston Kingdom, Amsterdam.
