This weekend: Secret Show and Troubadour Nut Treffen
Date: 18th August 2009
Upcoming weekend will not only be about Lowlands. There is two other really cool shows to attend: a Secret Show at the EKKO in Utrecht and the 15th Troubadour Nut Treffen in Leeuwarden. Respectively Stilettos and Woody & Paul will rock these shows. Have a look at the announcements:
Both about The Seatsniffers (BE) and The Leftovers (USA) have great news for you during these summerdays. One of them announces a new full-lenght and the other announces a new European tour!
At their really great, packed, sweaty show at Altstadt in Eindhoven last week The Seatsniffers told us they have agreed with Sonic Rendezvous to release a new record in the beginning of 2010. It's confirmed now, in January/February the band will be ready to take over again! As soon as we have more news on this topic we will be sure to let you know! By the way, their last months shows in Holland at Zwarte Cross and Eindhoven were a blast!
The Leftovers released "Eager To Please" and are on constant touring in the USA at the moment. The autumn is for a different continent again: Europe. The dates in the UK with Zebrahead and Bowling For Soup are on their myspace already. After that a couple of weeks of headline shows on the mainland are planned. Keep a lookout on our website or at their myspace for the gigs of this great poppunk/powerpop band from Portland.
Two new additions to our roster. One will do some concerts in August/September and the other will tour in November. We're talking about Henry's Funeral Shoe from Wales and the Stompin' Souls from Sweden.
The truly great Alive Records from Burbank released this truly great record by Henry's Funeral Shoe. "Is Henry’s Funeral Shoe the Welsh answer to the White Stripes? Or to the Black Keys? How about both at once? The duo certainly plows the same guitar/drum blues duo earth as those acts, but is less pop-oriented than the former and less obsessed with Led Zeppelin than the latter. Aled Clifford is a manly but versatile vocalist whose hero seems to be Steve Marriott, rather than Robert Plant, and he’s a fine slide/boogie guitarist. His brother Brenning keeps the cans a-rockin’ and a-groovin’. With a pronounced bent towards the John Lee Hooker side of the blues fence, the Shoes have an entirely different feel than their more famous brethren, lighter of foot and heavier of tone, as heard in Second Hand Prayer and It’s a Long Way. Mary’s Tune ends the record on a folky and rather sweet note, just to show that the guys can pitch woo as well as make whoopy." – Michael Toland
The amazing Stompin' Souls will play their first dutch gigs in November. Today all cool retro-rock seems to hail from Scandinavia. In this case Stockholm. Garagerock with psychedilic beat, complete with organ, like Mando Diao in their early rocking days or Soundtrack Of Our Lives in their best condition, is what this five-piece is about. Quality rock with complete with an explosive liveshow will is what you will hear in the end of November.
